Theres nothing more important on Valentines Day than table flowers and a card. This tutorial is dedicated to the ones we love.
In this tutorial we use a still life painting.
The mirror, the table, the doorway, chair, and flowers are all different colors to give more contrast when viewed from a distance. Getting a paintings subject to stand out should be subtle but effective....
Backgrounds are very important in a still life painting, however you must first paint the flowers and vase in great detail before you begin the background. Soft colors are needed for the flowers to help with the contrast between background and subject.
The mirror and doorway do not need to be detailed. In fact they should be somewhat less detailed to achieve the effect. When viewed from a far, the flowers appear to step out of the painting.
