The background in this painting is our focus.  In order to achieve the depth needed, two separate techniques were used.  First the hills in the foreground are darker than our mountain and the reflection off the water gives us the illusion of the vast nature of this wilderness.  The snow caps are made of white wax and gives texture to the subject.
